History Must not Remain a Mystery!

'Tis a shame that I could not have lived throgh the past century, as a simple Watcher- absorbing the sights, the human follies, foibles and fantastic achievements... and yes, I would be willing to bear witness to the death, desecration and madness as well. You may all call it another one of Flynn's fantasies... you would be right in doing so.

I cannot explain what has brought on this need for me make tangible part of the history of humanity- the part that I have within my reach. That is, I have an idea. Actually, I've had this idea for a long time, but events have deemed it almost impossible for me to play with and pick at this idea of mine. What, you all ask, is this brilliant idea of mine?? Now, bevore I digress and divulge, let me ask you all to ponder upon certain points.

Is it not a part of human nature for us all to find somewhere- that unique niche- where we all "fit in", where we belong (to use the cliche terms)? And what is the most important factor that influences, or rather, moulds this niche? It is, of course, our family. Would you not agree that we should all, at the very least, be aware of our roots, our ancestry?
To be sure, it is unlike Flynn to be thinking of roots and niches and fitting in. Normally Flynn is too absorbed in... well- other things. However, one thing Flynn loves to do is write (well, that and talk). As for this brilliant idea of mine- it is this:

I would like to attempt to write down the history of my family... that is- not just my siblings and my parents, but beyond that. I would like to write, using pen and paper (or Microsoft Word), the antics of my Mum's and Dad's siblings, and their families- who they were/are, what they were/are like (from my parents' perspectives, of course), what they have/ had done and everything in between. I tell you, this is no simple matter, especially since my Mum's family alone consists of a total of 8 siblings (not including her), my Dad's family is a mystery to me- for the most part; and I have not seen most of my relatives for ten years (or maybe more).

However, this project of mine is bound to be rife with problems. My first and most cumbersome problem... my parents refuse to co-operate.
So... how to jump over this impossibly high hurdle??

See? That's the problem- I acutally want to do this... I must be totally Flynn- normal people don't really want to do stuff like this, do they?

Well, if you want to remain normal, then don't try... actually- I don't think I can actually finish it.
Oh well, thanks for you luck anyway- I hope it's all good... soon!

Acha flynn, ami kichu bujhi na. Can u explain it in blondish iishii terminology so i can get a clue as to wat u r talking about?

Seriously, what does the previous generation have to hide that they hardly ever cooperate!!

Well, it would be interesting to watch a Flynn attempt such an investigation. And it would indeed be interesting to read the tale it will, iA, produce. U have all my well wishes with u, Flynn.

For Ishi: I'm trying to write down my Family's history... you know- in words.. using pen/paper (or the comp.).

For Emu: If only we knew what the previous generation hides from us! But the fact that they do have secrets swept under the rug, makes me want to delve deeper into the past and investigate more thoroughly. I really don't want to stoop to evesdropping...

For M. Apu: I have it started, but it was a very painful process (I mean just starting)... and my enthusiasm has yet to wane.
The second episode of TTC (my verion, not Dickens') is going to be slightly different to what I planned initially.

Ok-y.. Just wanted to advise the young humans of this conversation.. 'Tis not always such a brilliant idea to uncover secrets. Though if you are serious about your family documentary it will be necessary, won't it? Well, I'm just advising for the sake of advising/warning. Sometimes ignorance really is bliss, as the saying goes. As long as you trust that you are adult enough to look upon your parents as fellow adult individuals rather than up at them as the admirable and knowing entity that instructed and guided you all your life. This is all in assumption that their are much-regretted blunders concealed and undiscussed. but hey, go for it, fear fear itself- its far greater than the feared task. And who's to say there are any closets with skeleton inhabitants anyway?

Who art thou, anon? Your advice is smth that I myself would have like to have given, had i the patience or such flair with language!
